Teriver Cheung x Ensemble Transience ft. Ted Lo
As his cross-media ensemble performance Hong Kong Episode rounded off the second edition of JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power with wide acclaim, renowned young jazz musician Tervier Cheung jammed, again, with a group of talented musicians to perform in public spaces to share the joy of jazz with all.
This performance featured local jazz master Ted Lo as the keyboardist alongside the five members of Ensemble Transience: well-known jazz bassist Scott Dodd; violinist Louie Lai Lai and flute player Izumi Nikaido, both accomplished chamber music performers; celebrated guzheng player Alison Lau; and emerging jazz drummer Samuel Chan.
The programme included original and adapted modern jazz pieces and new works that mixed with Chinese and Japanese folk songs. The audience were treated to a mobile feast of genre-bending music, with jazz quartets being played on violins, flutes and guzhengs.
